Noel Whelan has said that it would enhance Leeds United’s chances of winning against Liverpool if left-back Junior Firpo is fit.
Leeds will take on Liverpool at Elland Road in the Premier League on Sunday afternoon.
Firpo, signed from Barcelona in the summer transfer window, tested posted for coronavirus last month.
Former Leeds striker Whelan believes that if the 25-year-old left-back is fit to play against Liverpool, then it will be a massive boost to Marcelo Bielsa’s side’s chances of picking up all three points from the encounter.
Whelan told Football Insider: “It would be a big boost to have him back because it would allow Dallas to go back into the midfield.
“The energy he gives you in there is second to none. He likes to get forward and into the 18-yard box to create and score goals. His energy in an attacking-sense will be vital against Liverpool. He gets on the ball, links up play and let’s not forget he does a great job defensively as well.
“It would also be good to have a recognised left-back [Firpo] out there as well. He can keep building on that relationship with Jack Harrison.”
Leeds can be backed at 14/1 on Betfair to win 1-0 against Liverpool at Elland Road this weekend.
