All eyes will be on Wembley on Sunday afternoon as Manchester City face Sunderland in the Capital One Cup final.

The winners of the match will be guaranteed of European football next season in the Europa League, though with Manchester City odds-on to finish in the top four, the team who finishes in sixth place in the Premier League will take their spot should the trophy head to the Etihad Stadium.

City, who have previously won this competition on two occasions, go in to the game on the back of a 1-0 win over Stoke City – with Yaya Toure’s winner only their third goal in their last five games.

However, Manuel Pellegrini’s side have proved that they know where the back of the net is on many occasions this season, not least in the semi-finals, where they put nine past West Ham United over two legs.

They will be boosted by the return of top scorer Sergio Aguero, who has missed the past five games with a hamstring problem though Stevan Jovetic and Matija Nastasic are both out injured.

Aguero is favourite to open the scoring at 4.0 (3/1) with most bookmakers, with Yaya Toure a 7.0 (6/1) shot with a variety of firms.

Manchester City are 1.33 (1/3) to win the match inside ninety minutes and 1.17 (1/6) with Betfred to lift the trophy, with Sunderland as highly priced as 10.0 (9/1) and 5.5 (9/2) in the two markets respectively. Coral offer a price of 6.0 (5/1) for the game to go to extra-time.

The Black Cats, who slipped back into the Premier League’s bottom three after losing 4-1 to Arsenal last time out, made it to the final after beating Manchester United on penalties on a dramatic evening at Old Trafford five-and-a-half weeks ago.

Gus Poyet has no fresh injury worries, with goalkeeper Kieran Westwood his only absentee though Liam Bridcutt is cup-tied having represented Brighton and Hove Albion earlier in the campaign.

Former City midfielder Adam Johnson is generously priced at 17.0 (16/1) to get the first goal of the game with a number of firms, with Fabio Borini a 19.0 (18/1) chance with Betfred.

Sunderland won their past four home meetings with City by a goal to nil, and that outcome here can be backed at 34.0 (33/1) with Coral.

Alternatively, if you anticipate City to return to their free-scoring ways, you can back them to get four or more goals at 4.33 (10/3) with the same firm.
