Following the 3-2 triumph over Australia, Germany take on group leaders Chile hoping to record a victory that would secure them progress into the semi-final.

La Roja are also in confident mood after the comfortable win over Cameroon, and this will feel like a good opportunity to showcase their title ambitions.

On the back of some convincing performances in the World Cup qualifying, Germany were seen as one of the main candidates for the trophy in Russia, that is until Joachim Low announced his Confederations Cup squad.

Namely, the head coach decided to leave a number of star players out of the side, giving some new players a chance to shine, but that does not mean Die Mannschaft will not give their best to try and win the coveted trophy.

Germany’s second-string side did manage to prove the doubters wrong as they enjoyed a 3-2 victory over Australia, with Stindl, Draxler and Goretzka getting on the scoresheet.

However, Die Mannschaft will face a much tougher task against very good Chile side, with the lack of experience on international stage likely to prove an issue for Joachim Low’s men.

There have been no fresh injury worries for Joachim Low, who is expected to field a similar side to the one that beat Australia few days ago.

Probable starting line-up (3-1-4-2): ter Stegen – Kimmich, Mustafi, Rudiger – Rudy – Brandt, Goretzka, Draxler, Hector – Stindl, Werner.

Chile managed to establish themselves as one of South America’s leading sides in recent years, with back to back Copa America wins a serious achievement.

With Germany arriving to Russia without a number of key men, La Roja rightly emerged as one of the main candidates for the trophy, although they didn’t have such a great start.

Chile did enjoy a 2-0 triumph over Cameroon in their opening fixture, but it took them more than 80 minutes to break the African side, which is enough to suggest they have yet to find their top form.

The good news is that star forward Alexis Sanchez has overcome both his illness and an ankle injury and he is expected to start vs Germany.

Claudio Bravo, on the other hand, is still carrying an injury, meaning that Jhonny Herrera could continue between the sticks.

Probable starting line-up (4-3-3): Herrera – Isla, Medel, Jara, Beausejour – Vidal, Diaz, Aranguiz – Fuenzalida, Vargas, Sanchez.
