France vs Brazil preview

Despite the starting defeat to Belarus, new coach Laurent Blanc managed to get les Bleus on the right track following Raymond Domenech’s numerous blunders.

France won their next three qualifying games before beating England at Wembley and Laurent Blanc believes his side can now match Brazil without too many problems.

The talented coach omitted Patrice Evra from the squad, with Eric Abidal and Gael Clichy set to battle for the left-back position, while Philippe Mexes and Adil Rami will continue their fruitful partnership in defence.

Karim Benzema is set for another start up front, with Yoann Gourcuff also expected in the starting line-up despite his poor run of form.

France squad:

Goalkeepers: Cedric Carrasso (Bordeaux), Hugo Lloris (Lyon), Steve Mandanda (Marseille).

Defenders: Eric Abidal (Barcelona), Gael Clichy (Arsenal), Laurent Koscielny (Arsenal), Philippe Mexes (AS Roma), Adil Rami (Lille), Anthony Reveillere (Lyon), Bacary Sagna (Arsenal), Mamadou Sakho (Paris Saint-Germain).

Midfielders: Yohan Cabaye (Lille), Abou Diaby (Arsenal), Alou Diarra (Bordeaux), Yoann Gourcuff (Lyon), Yann M’Vila (Rennes), Blaise Matuidi (Saint-Etienne), Florent Malouda (Chelsea).

Forwards: Karim Benzema (Real Madrid), Kevin Gameiro (Lorient), Guillaume Hoarau (Paris Saint-Germain), Jeremy Menez (AS Roma), Loic Remy (Marseille).

Brazil are also in the process of rebuilding a team with coach Mano Menezes determined to rejuvenate the squad with a view of fighting for the 2014 World Cup title on native soil.

The boss left out Kaka, Maicon, Felipe Melo and Lucio, while wonderkid Neymar is playing for the Under-20 side in Peru.

Julio Cesar returns to the side after recovering from injury, while Rafael, Breno and Lucas are also in the squad.
