Denmark vs PortugalDenmark go into the high-profile match in better mood than the opposition having picked up four points from first two qualifiers, whilst Portugal are in a difficult position following the home loss to Albania.

The Nordic side missed out on the 2014 World Cup play-offs despite the second-place finish, but another such result would see them secure automatic Euro 2016 berth.

Winning one of the top two positions in Group I will be no easy task though, and Morten Olsen’s charges will have to show a great deal of consistency if they are to succeed in their quest.

Denmark managed to avoid any surprises in the opening fixture against Armenia, having come from a goal down to win the game, before once again conceding a first time goal despite dominating the proceedings.

The Danes showed a lot of character to earn a 1-1 draw in Albania, and they now hope for another positive result ahead of the Portugal clash.

Denmark cannot be considered favourites to win, but odds of 3.30 (23/10) offered on home win are enough to suggest they do stand a chance.

With no fresh selection worries to report, Morten Olsen is not expected to make numerous changes to the side, although Lasse Vibe should come in for Yussuf Poulsen.

Probable starting line-up (4-3-3): Schmeichel – Ankersen, Kjaer, Bjelland, Boilesen – Hojbjerg, Kvist, Eriksen – Vibe, Bendtner, Krohn-Dehli.

In spite of the 2014 World Cup failure, national team chiefs gave coach Paulo Bento a vote of confidence, but they had no choice but to sack him following the shocking home defeat to Albania.

Former Greece boss Fernando Santos was brought to replace him and the players appear delighted with the appointment.

The first thing the coach did was to reinstate experienced players Danny, Tiago Mendes and Ricardo Carvalho, while it also appears that Cristiano Ronaldo will be deployed as a centre forward in lack of better options.

Portugal showed a great deal of promise in Saturday’s friendly against France and they are 2.40 (7/5) to return to winning ways against Denmark.

Having played as a centre forward against les Bleus, Cristiano Ronaldo can be backed at 2.30 (13/10) to score anytime in Copenhagen.

Fernando Santos has absolutely no injury worries at the moment, although William Carvalho is tipped to replace Andre Gomes in the starting line-up.

Probable starting line-up (4-3-3): Patricio – Cedric, Pepe, Alves, Eliseu – Tiago, William, Moutinho – Nani, Ronaldo, Danny.
