Borussia Dortmund will ‘respect’ Jadon Sancho’s wishes if he wants to leave the club but have warned potential buyers that the Englishman’s signature will not be cheap.

The wideman, signed from Manchester City in 2017, has been in brilliant form since arriving in the Bundesliga. In 90 appearances in all competitions for the club, he has scored 31 goals and provided a further 42 assists.

Those kinds of performances have reportedly seen him attract the interest of some of Europe’s biggest clubs such as Barcelona and Chelsea, amongst others.

Borussia Dortmund CEO Hans-Joachim Watzke has suggested that if Sancho has a desire to leave the club, they will of course respect his wishes but they are entitled to expect his current worth in the transfer market.

Talking to Bild, he said: You always have to respect what the player wants.

“We already said before corona that our preference is for Jadon to remain with us.

“I can say clearly that even the very rich clubs, despite the current existential crisis, shouldn’t think they can get a bargain from us. We don’t have to sell anyone below their value.”

Should the Bundesliga resume, Dortmund will hope to continue challenging Bayern for the league title. Lucien Favre’s men sit four points adrift of the league leaders and can be backed at odds of 28/5 with the Betfair exchange to win the league.
