Dortmund agree to sign Kevin Kampl from Salzburg

Kevin KamplGerman giants Borussia Dortmund have announced the capture of Slovenian midfielder Kevin Kampl from Red Bull Salzburg.

Boss Jurgen Klopp was desperate to reinforce the squad following the shocking start to the season and he has already secured his first signing of the January window.

Kevin Kampl joins from Red Bulls Salzburg for an undisclosed fee, signing a contract until June 2019 at Signal-Iduna Park.

“Kevin Kampl is a versatile attacking-midfielder, who we have been observing for some time,” said Dortmund sporting director Michael Zorc. “His style of play fits in perfectly with our own.”

Kevin Kampl, 24, was born in Germany and began his career with Bayer Leverkusen and he also played for VfL Osnabruck and VfR Aalen before joining Red Bull Salzburg in 2012.

The winger has largely impressed in Austrian top flight, having managed 29 goals and 54 assists in 109 competitive outings.

Kampl has also developed into an important player for Slovenia national team, and he started all four Euro 2016 qualifiers up to date.
