Chile proved their worth by winning Group C, leaving Uruguay, Peru and Mexico trailing in their wake, whereas Venezuela produced quite a few surprises to finish tied on points with Group B winners Brazil.
Chile enter this match as favourites following very good showings in group stage that saw them pick up 7 out of 9 possible points.
La Roja were through to the quarter-finals after the second round draw with Uruguay, but they still managed to beat fierce rivals Peru in their final group game and finish top of their group.
Claudio Borghi’s men now have a great chance to make it to the semi-finals as Venezuela are hardly world beaters, with La Roja priced at 1.73 (8/11) with Bet365 to win the game in regular time.
The boss has revealed that Humberto Suazo will keep his place in the starting line-up despite several under-par performances, but Jean Beausejour misses out through suspension.
Carlos Carmona is expected to start as central midfielder, whereas Arturo Vidal will switch from right to left flank. Matias Fernandez remains sidelined.
Probable starting line-up (3-5-2): Bravo – Ponce, Contreras, Jara – Isla, Jimenez, Medel, Carmona, Vidal – Suazo, Sanchez.
Having only once reached the Copa America quarter-finals in history, Venezuela were not given big chances to qualify from Group B.
However, the Vinotinto proved they will be a tough nut to crack by holding Brazil to the goalless draw, whereas the win over Ecuador meant that Cesar Farias’ men have qualified for the quarter-finals.
Venezuela were then on the edge of defeat in their final group game having entered the final stage of the game trailing Paraguay by two goals, but the Vinotinto showed a lot of character to score two injury time goals and keep their unbeaten record intact.
The record will be put to a real test against very good Chile side, but you should know Venezuela are 3.75 (11/4) with Victor Chandler to qualify for the semis.
Probable starting line-up (4-4-2): Vega – Rosales, Vizcarrondo, Perozo, Cichero – Rincon, Gonzalez, Lucena, Arango – Rondon, Fedor.
