English domestic football is well and truly back and the traditional curtain raiser to the Premier League season takes place at Wembley today as Chelsea take on Manchester City in the Community Shield.

The Blues clinched last season’s FA Cup after beating Manchester United by a goal to nil at Wembley back in May, Eden Hazard the goalscorer.

The Belgium international was one of several Blues players involved in the last four of the World Cup and won’t be involved as he, Thibaut Courtois, Michy Batshuayi, Olivier Giroud and N’Golo Kante have only just returned to training.

Willian is also unlikely to feature after failing to report for training last week, much to the displeasure of new manager Maurizio Sarri though Ross Barkley could feature and new signing Jorginho is in line for his debut.

Alvaro Morata can be backed at 7.5 (13/2) to open the scoring ahead of 9.0 (8/1) chance Tammy Abraham, who is keen to impress after returning from a season-long loan at Swansea City.

Chelsea are 3.7 (27/10) to win inside ninety minutes with Bet 365, with Manchester City widely available at a priced of 2.05 (21/20). The draw can be backed at 3.65 (45/17) with Unibet.

Pep Guardiola’s side cruised to last season’s Premier League title ending the campaign nineteen points ahead of neighbours Manchester United in second.

Like his opposite number the City boss is without a number of players who were involved in the latter stages of the World Cup with the likes of Kevin De Bruyne and Raheem Sterling not yet ready for involvement though summer arrival Riyad Mahrez could start as could youngster Phil Foden.

Sergio Aguero is 5.5 (9/2) to get the first goal of the game with Mahrez a 10.0 (9.1) chance with Unibet.

Both of last season’s league meetings between the sides were won by a single goal to nil by Manchester City, and in both occasions the winner came in the second half.

You can back under 1.5 goals this time around at a price of 4.5 (7/2) with several firms while a goalless first half is 3.5 (5/2) with Sky Bet.
