Gareth Bale’s future at Real Madrid continues to be increasingly uncertain with the Wales winger left out of Los Blancos’ squad for an upcoming pre-season friendly against Red Bull Salzburg.

The Spanish giants travel to Austria on Wednesday evening to continue their preparations for the 2019/20 season, but once again will be without Bale.

The 30-year-old’s future at the club has looked uncertain since the return of former manager Zinedine Zidane in March. It was suggested that Los Blancos were prepared to cash in on their record signing this summer with a transfer to Chinese outfit Jiangsu Suning looking likely earlier in the window but that move fell through.

Since moving to the Santiago Bernabeu, Bale has put in some stunning performances, winning four UEFA Champions League titles. However, he has struggled with fitness issues.

He has made a total of 231 appearances for the club since his then world record transfer from Tottenham Hotspur, scoring 102 goals and providing 65 assists.

A return to England was also mooted for Bale this summer but that now seems unlikely with the transfer window set to close on Thursday evening. Although, the Welshman can still be backed at a price 9/1 with Betfair to secure a return to former club Tottenham Hotspur before Thursday’s 5pm deadline.
