Gabriel Agbonlahor has said on talkSPORT (17 November, 9.20am) that Aston Villa manager Steven Gerrard should not sign Ryan Kent or Alfredo Morelos from Rangers in the January transfer window.

The former Villa striker has said that Gerrard should aim higher given that the Villans will have a much bigger budget than Rangers.

Former Liverpool midfielder Gerrard left his managerial role at Rangers last week and took over at Aston Villa.

The Metro have reported that Gerrard wants to sign Kent from Rangers in the January transfer window.

Agbonlahor said: “I wouldn’t buy any (players from Rangers). I like Kent, I like Morelos – but I think Steven Gerrard now has a bigger player he can buy.

“At Rangers he only had a certain amount of money. But now, with the money Villa have got… look at the signings they’ve made, £30 million, £40 million

“I feel like managers don’t always have to go back to the club they left and go back to players they know. He’s got the whole world (available to him) now.”

Villa are 16th in the Premier League table at the moment with 10 points from 11 matches. only two points above the relegation zone.

The Villains’ next game is against Brighton and Hove Albion at Villa Park in the Premier League this coming Saturday.

Gerrard’s side can be backed backed at 17/2 on Betfair to win the match 2-1.
