Real Sociedad winger Adnan Januzaj has told of his motivation to show former club Manchester United what they have ‘missed’ as the two teams come together.

The Red Devils travel to Turin on Thursday evening to take on the Spaniards in the first-leg of their UEFA Europa League Round of 32 tie.

The Belgian midfielder, who broke through the club’s academy eight years ago, has been one of the La Liga club’s most important players since making the switch to Spain. He is now motivated to get one over his former employers but also admitted that the feeling of lining up against United will be strange.

Speaking in a post-match press conference, Januzaj said: “I love United a lot. They’re my favourite club, and even to this day I watch every single game of theirs because I love the club. Obviously, when I saw that I would have to play against United, it was a bit of a weird feeling.

“But at the end of the day I want to play them and try to beat them, to show them also what they have missed and stuff like that.”

Januzaj looked set for a promising future at United after he scored twice on his debut against Sunderland but didn’t quite live up to his promise.

In the time since, he has made 106 appearances for Sociedad, netting 16 goals and providing as many assists. He can be backed at odds of 10/1 with William Hill to open the scoring against his former club.
