Chelsea winger Willian could be set to extend his stay at Stamford Bridge, with reports suggesting that the Brazilian could pen a new contract within the week.

The winger’s previous contract was set to expire at the end of the current campaign, having agreed an extension to represent the Blues throughout the extended season.

However, he now appears set to stay even longer, with Sky Sports confirming that an agreement has been reached.

There was previously an impasse in talks between the club and the Brazilian, with Willian preferring a three-year-deal but only being offered two. That led to reports that he could leave, with Arsenal and Barcelona apparently interested in acquiring his services.

Since signing for Chelsea from Anzhi Makhachkala in 2013, the now 31-year-old has made 339 appearances, scoring 62 goals and providing 63 assists. He has played a key role in the club winning two Premier League titles, one FA Cup, one League Cup and the UEFA Europa League.

Willian could add another winner’s medal to his collection next week as Chelsea take on Arsenal in the FA Cup final. The Blues can be backed at a price of 8/13 with Betfair to win the trophy, the ninth in their history in all.
