Premier League high-flyers West Ham have been unsuccessful in their attempts to lure Boca Juniors striker Carlos Tevez back to the club, according to co-chairman David Sullivan.
The Hammers have made quite a few official proposals for high-profile footballers as they search for a new centre forward and they offered the Argentine striker an opportunity to return to London.
However, West Ham co-chairman David Sullivan moved to reveal that Tevez’s exorbitant wage demands prevented the deal from going through.
“We tried to get Tevez but he wanted £250,000 a week,” Sullivan explained to the Mirror. “In his last year at Juventus he was great. But 250 grand a week?
“All this business, “I love West Ham”, well it’s ‘I love West Ham if they give me £250,000 a week’.
“So how much love is that for West Ham? I actually offered him £150,000 a week to come back plus bonuses.”
The Hammers plan to build on what was a very successful season last term and they can now be backed at 10.00 (9/1) to achieve a top 4 finish.
