Tottenham Hotspur have made a move to bolster their attacking options by approaching PSV for winger Steven Bergwijn.

According to reports from Sky Sports News, the Premier League club are interested in signing the Dutch wideman. It is unclear as of yet whether they have lodged a bid for his signature but he was left out of the PSV squad to face FC Twente in the Eredivisie on Sunday.

The 22-year-old currently has four years left to run on the contract that he signed in August 2019.

A move for the Dutchman would make plenty of sense, considering the lack of attacking options that Spurs boss Jose Mourinho currently has at the club. Captain Harry Kane has been ruled out for the majority of the season through injury, whilst midfielder Christian Eriksen looks to be moving away from the club to secure a move to Serie A giants Inter Milan.

A nine-time Dutch international, Bergwijn has made 149 appearances for his boyhood club, scoring 31 goals and providing 41 assists. He also played a key role as PSV won three Dutch league championships.

Premier League rivals Leicester City also reportedly hold an interest in the winger.

Tottenham continue their push for a top four finish next weekend as they take on Manchester City on Sunday. They can be backed at a price of 5/1 with Betfair to win the game.
