Tottenham Hotspur welcome Aston Villa to White Hart Lane on Sunday afternoon looking for a result which will guarantee their place in next season’s Europa League.

Spurs lost 2-0 to West Ham United last weekend to all but end their chances of finishing any higher than sixth place, which they will secure should they avoid defeat here, while they can afford to lose if Manchester United fail to win at Southampton.

Etienne Capoue could return for Tim Sherwood’s side while Jan Vertonghen remains on the side-lines with Erik Lamela, Kyle Walker, Andros Townsend, Nacer Chadli and Mousa Dembele and Younes Kaboul is suspended.

Emmanuel Adebayor is favourite to open the scoring at 5.5 (9/2) with Coral, with Christian Eriksen widely available at 8.5 (15/2).

The home win is 1.53 (8/15) with Paddy Power, with Villa a 7.5 (13/2) shot with 888 Sport, who price the draw at 4.55 (39/11).

The visitors were thumped by four goals to nil by champions elect Manchester City on Wednesday evening, though their win over Hull City last weekend extinguished any fears of relegation, and victory here could see them move to as high as twelfth place depending on other results.

Villa currently top the Premier League injury list, with no fewer than nine players including Christian Benteke, Charles N’Zogbia , Gabriel Agbonlahor and Marc Albrighton all on the side-lines though the latter two could be fit in time to feature.

Andreas Weimann is priced at 13.0 (12/1) with Bet 365 to get the first goal of the game with Agbonlahor and Grant Holt each available at the same price with the same firm.

Spurs are unbeaten in their last eleven games against Villa, winning five of the last six clashes without conceding including the 2-0 win in the West Midlands back in October.

With that in mind, you may be tempted to back the home win to nil at 2.75 (7/4) with Ladbrokes while Coral offer a price of 2.62 (13/8) for the North London side to score at least three times as they have in four of their last seven league games.
