Sunderland vs Tottenham preview

Sunderland have started slipping down the Premiership standings following back to back defeats to Chelsea and Stoke, with the Black Cats set for another difficult game.

Steve Bruce faces a real selection headache before the Tottenham game, although new signings Stephane Sessegnon and Suley Muntari have certainly eased the midfield worries.

Craig Gordon should be fit to play despite pulling out of Scotland squad in midweek, but Frazier Campbell, Michael Turner, Danny Welbeck and David Meyler remain long-term worries.

Tottenham remained very close to the top with back to back wins over Blackburn and Bolton, but Spurs will not be entirely focused on this game with Champions League clash against Milan due just three days later.

With that game in mind, Harry Redknapp could make some changes to the starting line-up, and he is likely to field a 4-4-1-1 formation with Van der Vaart playing just behind Jermaine Defoe.

Gareth Bale remains a doubt with a back injury, but Jonathan Woodgate will be in contention. Ledley King, Younes Kaboul and Tom Huddlestone are out injured.

Victor Chandler expects a very tight game at Stadium of Light as both Sunderland and Tottenham are 2.75 (7/4) to win the game, whilst draw pays 3.30 (23/10).
