Stoke vs Wolves preview

High-flying Stoke have got a great chance to virtually ensure survival with another victory at their Britannia, whereas Wolves are hoping to avoid defeat against the Potters and thus climb out of the bottom three.

Tony Pulis’ side did remarkably well to qualify for the FA Cup final, with the 5:0 win over Bolton definitely the highlight of their season.

The Potters kept the spirits high by bringing one point from Villa Park at the weekend, and are now searching for what would be a very valuable victory at sold-out Britannia. Stoke are 1.91 (10/11) with Victor Chandler to win the game.

Tony Pulis admits his players are running on empty at the moment, meaning that he could make a couple of changes to the side that started the Villa game.

Ricardo Fuller picked up an Achilles injury and he is likely to miss out, just like Mamadou Sidibe, who remains a long-term casualty. John Carew remains a doubt.

Probable starting line-up (4-4-2): Begovic – Wilkinson, Huth, Shawcross, Wilson – Pennant, Delap, Whelan, Etherington – Jones, Walters.

This will be a very important match for relegation threatened Wolves since even one point from Britannia would put them in a good position before the final four games.

Seeing that Mick McCarthy’s side will only face bottom table sides in the remainder of the league campaign, maybe this is the right time to back Wolves to stay up at odds of 1.91 (10/11) offered by Victor Chandler.

Wolverhampton missed a great chance to finally escape the bottom three as they couldn’t hold on to the lead against Fulham, although one point from that game is nothing less than what they deserved.

Mick McCarthy faces a real selection headache with George Elokobi and Kevin Doyle definitely out of the game. Stephen Hunt should return to the starting line-up, while Sylvain Ebanks-Blake and Michael Kightly are pushing for the starting places.

Probable starting line-up (4-5-1): Hennessey – Stearman, Berra, Craddock, Ward – Jarvis, Henry, Milijas, O’Hara, Hunt – Ebanks-Blake.
