‘Silly’ to doubt Manchester United, says Luke Shaw

Manchester United defender Luke Shaw has said that it would be ‘silly’ to doubt that the Red Devils are in the conversation for the Premier League title.

The team have endured an inconsistent campaign throughout 2020/21 under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer but despite that, they’re still sitting third table, just four points behind Liverpool with a game in hand. They could even go second if they beat Leicester City on Boxing Day.

Following a number of surprise results in the league so far, Shaw has said that Manchester United should not be ruled out of winning their first title since 2013.

Talking to Sky Sports, the left-back said: “The way the Premier League is going at the moment, I think it would be silly to doubt us. I think at this moment in time, it’s anyone’s really.

“The team that takes charge, goes well over the Christmas period, and wins all their games, I think have got a very good chance.

“We just need to try and get consistency in our game, because we can’t keep having one good game and dropping off and then having one bad game. There’s no way you can mount a title challenge like that so I think we need to keep consistency and see where it takes us.”

At the current time, the Red Devils can be backed at a price of 11/1 with Betfair to win the league come the end of the season.
