Wayne RooneyManchester United boss David Moyes has revealed that star player Wayne Rooney is carrying a groin injury that could see him miss several fixtures in the next period.

The England international returned into action at the weekend having missed the victory over Norwich and he lasted full 90 minutes in the 2-1 defeat to Tottenham Hotspur.

However, David Moyes has revealed that Rooney could be rested in some of the next fixtures due to his ongoing groin problem.

“The plan was to play Wayne for 90 minutes, but he has a bit of a groin injury. The longer it went on, we had to try to get more attacking players on the pitch to try and find more ways to score,” Moyes told club’s official website.

“If I could (rest him) I would, but the games are coming thick and fast. He has missed a game with his groin and he may well miss some more coming up.”

And with Robin van Persie not yet ready to return, the Red Devils could face some problems up front in the FA Cup clash against Swansea.

Even if David Moyes is likely to use the match to rest some of his starters, Manchester United are 1.40 (2/5) favourites to win the game in regular time.
