Leicester City boss Brendan Rodgers has hailed his team for their courage in being able to lift the FA Cup for the first time.

Youri Tielemans’ goal was all that was required for the Foxes to claim their first-ever FA Cup triumph against Chelsea at Wembley Stadium on Saturday.

It was certainly a momentous occasion for the East-Midlanders having tasted defeat in their previous four finals in the competition.

Rodgers referenced that history and praised his players for changing it with what was an extremely gutsy showing against Thomas Tuchel’s men.

Speaking after the game, the Northern-Irishman said: “I’m so happy for the players, they were so courageous in the game. For the supporters, who have lost four finals.

“And for [Leicester owner Aiyawatt Srivaddhanaprabha] ‘Top’ and his family, it’s a dream of theirs to win the FA Cup and we’ve been able to deliver that.”

After claiming the FA Cup, Leicester will now be aiming to continue their spectacular season and secure a return to the UEFA Champions League.

Ahead of Liverpool’s clash with West Bromwich Albion, the Foxes sit third and six points clear of fifth with two games of the campaign to go.

They face Chelsea once again on Tuesday, this time in the league in what looks like a key game in the race for a Champions League position.

The Foxes can be backed at 8/13 with Betfair to claim a place in the top four come the end of the campaign.
