What a week it has been for Chelsea Football Club. After their understrength line up battled to a goalless draw at fellow top four hopefuls Arsenal, they shocked Europe by defying the odds to progress to the Champions League final.

Though they were outplayed in terms of possession over the two legs, losing two goals in quick succession and their captain in the first half, they managed to tip the tie in their favour through a splendid chip by Ramieres on the stroke of half time.

The ten men battled hard in the second half, and saw Lionel Messi thump a penalty against the crossbar before substitute Fernando Torres put the game out of the holders reach with a well taken stoppage time winner, levelling the game on the night, and giving the Blues a famous 3-2 aggregate victory.

They now face four times winners Bayern Munich, at the German sides very own Allianz Arena on May 19th, after they beat Real Madrid on penalties at the Bernabeu on Wednesday evening.

Chelsea are best priced at 2.88 (15/8) with Paddy Power to lift the trophy, and are an incredible 5.0 (4/1) with Stan James to win the game in ninety minutes.

Real Madrid’s failure to reach the final has raised questions around Jose Mourinho’s potential whereabouts next season, despite being almost certain of securing his club their first league title in four years. If he is to leave his post in Spain, it would most likely be for a return to Stamford Bridge. Ladbrokes are offering 6.0 (5/1) for the Special One to be Chelsea’s next permanent manager.

But what about the man who is currently at the helm? Since taking over back fifteen games ago, Roberto Di Matteo’s only defeat came at the hands of Manchester City in the league. The Italian has also guided his team to the final of the FA Cup, as well as the end of season showpiece in Munich.

Di Matteo, who played for Chelsea for six years at the turn of the century, is now the favourite to be made permanent manager, and is best priced 2.1 (11/10) with Sporting Bet.
