Redknapp faces new selection worries

Tottenham could enter the crucial stage of the season without two first team regulars since Tom Huddlestone and Benoit Assou-Ekotto has been declared doubtful for games against Blackpool and Manchester City.

Spurs have really damaged their top 4 chances with the defeat at Stamford Bridge, although they have every right to feel aggrieved with referee Andrew Marriner as neither of Chelsea’s two goals should have stood.

Harry Redknapp’s side still have a chance to save this season as they will play City at Eastlands after the home game against Blackpool, but the experienced manager could be without two very important players.

Tom Huddlestone has suffered a recurrence of his ankle injury, whereas Benoit Assou-Ekotto is struggling with a hamstring problem and the pair is rated very doubtful for the Blackpool game.

Sandro and Corluka deputized for Huddlestone and Assou-Ekotto respectively, and having done a good job at Stamford Bridge they will keep their places in the side if the pair fails to recover in time.

Spurs are now seven points adrift of fourth-placed City, but with the Citizens traveling to Goodison before playing host to Tottenham, odds of 22.00 (21/1) offered by Betfair on Tottenham to finish in top 4 do look tempting.
