Raheem Sterling EnglandBBC Sport has learned that Liverpool hotshot Raheem Sterling has informed the club chiefs that he wants to miss the pre-season tour of the Far East.

The England star is desperate to leave Anfield this summer, but the Reds have so far rejected several bids for his services from Manchester City, with the highest believed to have been £40 million.

Nevertheless, Sterling is still trying to engineer a move away from the club and has asked manager Brendan Rodgers to be left out of the Liverpool squad for pre-season training.

Liverpool will fly to Bangkok on Sunday and will also visit Australia and Malaysia on their pre-season tour, but it looks as though the winger will not be joining his teammates.

Sterling, who has another two years left on his contract, rejected a bumper new deal as he wants to leave the Reds for greener pastures.

Manchester City remain 1.20 (1/5) favourites to sign the winger this summer, while he is 6.00 (5/1) to be at Liverpool when the summer window closes.
