Paul Pogba ‘needs’ to leave Manchester United for the benefit of his career, the midfielder’s agent Mino Raiola has said.

The Frenchman has never quite realised his full potential at Old Trafford since a then world record transfer from Juventus back in 2016. He has long been linked with a move away from the Red Devils, something that the midfielder requires, according to Raiola.

Speaking to Tuttosport, he said: “There’s no point beating about the bush. It’s better to speak out clearly, look forward and avoid wasting time to find culprits.

“Paul is unhappy at Man Utd, he can’t manage to express himself like he wants to and like people expect him to.

“He needs to change team, he needs a change of scenery. He has a contract that will expire in a year and a half, in the summer of 2022, but the best solution for all parties is a transfer in the next (summer) window.”

Pogba, now 27, has endured a frustrating couple of years at Old Trafford, having only made 16 Premier League appearances last season due to various injury problems, whilst he has also missed a large chunk of the current season having tested positive for COVID-19.

He managed to score his first league goal of the season last time out in the 3-1 victory against West Ham United and is available at 16/1 with William Hill to net the opening goal of the game against RB Leipzig in the Champions League on Tuesday evening.
