Everton manager Roberto Martinez has revealed that captain Phil Jagielka has picked up a hamstring injury that will see him miss England’s game against Denmark.
The Three Lions face the Nordic side on 5th March as part of their 2014 World Cup preparations, but the Everton captain has been ruled out of the match.
According to Everton boss Roberto Martinez, Jagielka will be out of action for a couple of weeks at least.
“Phil has felt his hamstring over the last couple of days and will be missing at the weekend (against West Ham) and for England.”
England manager Roy Hodgson will announce a provisional squad for the Denmark game later today, but it is now clear there will be no place for Jagielka.
Phil Jones and Kyle Walker are both injury doubts, whereas Tom Huddlestone, Wilfried Zaha, Adam Johnson and Nathan Redmond are all tipped to be in the squad.
England host Denmark at Wembley next Wednesday and the Three Lions have been made 1.67 (2/3) favourites with BetVictor to emerge triumphant.
