Schalke 04 defender Ozan Kabak is reportedly having his medical with Liverpool ahead of a deadline day move to the Premier League champions.

According to Sky Sports, the Reds are working on a deal to bring the Turkish international to Anfield on an initial loan deal with an option to buy come the end of the season.

Whilst a deal has yet to be agreed between the two clubs, mainly due to Schalke’s necessity of finding a replacement in the final hours of the window, Kabak has already undergone part of his medical ahead of a switch to Merseyside.

The defender, 20, has been with the German giants since a switch from fellow Bundesliga outfit VfB Stuttgart in July 2019.

He has made 42 appearances since then, becoming one of the most coveted young defenders in Europe. Liverpool in fact have been linked with him on numerous occasions in the past and they now appear to have secured his signature.

Should he depart, Schalke are reportedly looking to bring in Arsenal defender Shkodran Mustafi as a replacement. The German would bolster the worst defence in the Bundesliga with Die Königsblauen having already shipped 49 goals throughout the 2020/21 season, a huge reason as to why they are now in deep relegation trouble.

The club sit at odds as narrow as 1/18 with Betfair to drop into the 2. Bundesliga after just one win in 19 league matches.
