Ligue 1 side Nice have moved to confirm reports that Colombian goalkeeper David Ospina is set for an imminent switch to Arsenal.
The Gunners were looking to sign a new shot-stopper after Lukasz Fabianski left and they seem to have agreed a deal for the highly rated footballer.
“It’s confirmed, yes. It’s a good affair for Arsenal because he’s a very good player,” Nice coach Claude Puel was quoted as saying.
Arsene Wenger later admitted that Ospina would be given a fair chance to earn a regular starting berth at the Emirates.
The Colombian becomes club’s third signing of the summer transfer window, following the captures of Alexis Sanchez and Mathieu Debuchy, with Southampton starlet Calum Chambers also expected to join.
Even so, the Gunners remain fourth favourites for the Premier League trophy, with Unibet paying 7.50 (13/2) on Arsenal to win outright.
