Premier League giants Manchester City and Chelsea are set to battle it out for the signature of Leicester defender Ben Chilwell.

According to reports in The Sun, the duo are interested in swooping for the England left-back and could table bids of up to £50m in an effort to take him to either the Etihad Stadium or Stamford Bridge.

Manchester City have been suggested as leading the race for Chilwell as Pep Guardiola aims to solve his conundrum at left-back, with Benjamin Mendy continuing to suffer with injuries since his move from AS Monaco. However, Chelsea are also apparently interested in the 22-year-old and could potentially make a move once their transfer ban is lifted.

After breaking through at the King Power Stadium, Chilwell has gone on to make 96 appearances for Leicester City, even managing to displace title winner Christian Fuchs as first-choice. He is under contract at the club until the summer of 2024.

His development in the East-Midlands has also impressed England boss Gareth Southgate with Chilwell establishing himself as the Three Lions left-back and picking up eight caps.

He could be in action once again next Friday as England take on the Czech Republic in UEFA Euro 2020 qualifying. Southgate’s troops are at odds of 4/9 with Betfair to win the match.
