Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has labelled the upcoming Manchester derby as the “perfect” game for his team to get back to winnings ways.
The Red Devils have been in somewhat indifferent form as of late, winning just three out of their last ten Premier League games, a run that has seen them fall 14 points behind their cross-city rivals.
Despite that, Solskjaer has said that there is no better game for the Red Devils to respond.
Talking to Sky Sports News, the Norwegian said: “It’s always the perfect game to get everyone going again. You get tested against a very good team, in form. As a Manchester United player we know how much this means for our fans. “
In quite the opposite to their rivals, Pep Guardiola’s troops find themselves in fine fettle having won their last 21 matches in all competitions. However, it’s a challenge that the Red Devils’ boss is relishing.
“When you walk on to the pitch, and you play a team that is in such a good vein of form, you know that you have to perform,” he continued.
“The butterflies come into play, you know, the blood is boiling, you’re getting ready, thinking, ‘This is a test for me and this is a challenge. These are the challenges you sign up to when you sign for Man United because you perform in these big games, that’s the next step for us.”
United are huge underdogs then as they travel to the Etihad Stadium. They are at odds of 6/1 with Betfair to earn victory on Sunday.
