Liverpool will be looking to tighten their grip on top spot with three points against goal-shy Southampton at Anfield on Saturday afternoon.

The hosts are on a superb run of form with just one loss – which incidentally came at the hands of the South Coast side – in sixteen Premier League games, and it is their three wins and a draw this season has catapulted them into pole position.

Daniel Sturridge has been undoubtedly their stand out performer in that recent run, and the England international is set to once again lead the line in the absence of Luis Suarez, who serves the last match of his ten-game suspension.

Philippe Coutinho will not have the chance to face his former manager after being ruled out for up to six weeks with a shoulder injury so Iago Aspas may deputise, while Kolo Toure is set to return to the starting line-up after making a cameo appearance in the 2-2 draw at Swansea City on Monday evening.

Sturridge is favourite to open the scoring at 5.0 (4/1) with Paddy Power to get the first of the goal, ahead of 7.0 (6/1) shot Aspas while Steven Gerrard is 10.5 (19/2) with Bet Victor.

The hosts are odds on for the victory at a best price of 1.62 (8/13) with Bet Victor, with the draw 4.0 (3/1) with most firms. Southampton are as highly priced as the 7.0 (6/1) offered by Paddy Power.

The visitors go in to the game on the back of a goalless draw with West Ham United, their second game in succession without scoring.

Only West Bromwich Albion have hit the net on fewer occasions than Mauricio Pochettino’s men so far this season, though they have just lost the one match, placing them comfortably in mid-table.

Luke Shaw has recovered from a knock he took last time out in time to feature, though Danny Fox and Tadanari Lee are both injury doubts.

Rickie Lambert is 10.5 (19/2) with Bet Victor to get the first goal of the game, with Pablo Osvaldo at 11.5 (21/2) shot with the same firm.

However, if you fancy the hosts to win whilst getting the fourth clean sheet of the campaign, the home win to nil is available at 3.0 (2/1) with Coral.
