Saturday’s Premier League action kicks off at Anfield where Liverpool face Everton in the 223rd Merseyside derby.

The hosts, who currently sit in eleventh place in the division after two wins and three defeats from their opening five games, go in to the match on the back of Tuesday evening’s dramatic Capital One Cup third round tie with Middlesbrough – a game which they eventually won 14-13 on penalties.

A number of first team players including Alberto Moreno, Steven Gerrard and Mario Balotelli are expected to be recalled to the starting XI by manager Brendan Rodgers, though Daniel Sturridge, Jordan Henderson and Philippe Coutinho face late fitness tests and Glen Johnson, Jon Flanagan and Joe Allen are all out.

Balotelli is widely available at 6.5 (11/2) to get the first goal of the game, with Rickie Lambert priced at 7.0 (6/1) with a number of firms.

The home win is 1.91 (10/11) with Bet Victor, with the visitors as highly priced as the 4.33 (10/3) on offer from Betfred. The draw is a 3.8 (14/5) chance with Sky Bet.

Roberto Martinez’s men sit one point and three places below their opponents and great rivals following a win, two draws and two losses so far in the league, while they crashed out of the League Cup on Tuesday after being thumped 3-0 by Swansea City.

They too are set to bring back a number of those rested in midweek, though Ross Barkley is still some way off a first team return.

Romelu Lukaku is 7.5 (13/2) to open the scoring with a variety of bookmakers, with top scorer Steven Naismith an 11.0 (10/1) chance with Ladbrokes.

Liverpool won last season’s corresponding fixture by four goals to nil back in January, with the sides playing out a 3-3 draw at Goodison Park last November.

In fact, three of the past four meetings between the sides have featured four or more goals, so you may be tempted to take advantage of Bet Victor’s offer of 2.6 (8/5) for that to be the case this time around.
