KlavanPremier League giants Liverpool are set to wrap up a deal for Augsburg defender Ragnar Klavan, BBC Sport can reveal.

The Reds will pay £4.2 million for the 30-year-old defender, who is expected to improve Jurgen Klopp’s defensive options at Anfield.

Namely, with Martin Skrtel and Kolo Toure leaving the club and Mamadou Sakho suffering an Achilles injury, the Reds decided to recruit the experienced defender.

Ragnar Klavan is an unknown quantity in England, but Jurgen Klopp knows him well from his time at Borussia Dortmund, and he clearly believes the Estonia international has what it takes to compete in the Premiership.

Klavan has spent last four years with Augsburg having joined from AZ Alkmaar, and he managed 4 goals in 125 Bundesliga appearances.

His next club Liverpool will attempt to challenge for the Premier League trophy next season, and they are now 10.00 (9/1) chance to succeed in their quest.
