marcus-rashfordManchester United starlets Jesse Lingard and Marcus Rashford have been included in Gareth Southgate’s squad for the 2018 World Cup qualifiers against Malta and Slovenia.

The former Under-21 manager was chosen to take over from Sam Allardyce after Big Sam was forced to resign from the post and he has opted for a youthful side.

Southgate had to contend with quite a few injuries as the likes of Adam Lallana, Harry Kane, Nathaniel Clyne, Danny Drinkwater, Jack Butland and Luke Shaw all miss out.

Marcus Rashford returns to the squad after an impressive start to the season, while his teammate Jesse Lingard is on the roster as well.

Stoke City full-back Glen Johnson is back after a two-year exile, with Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain another one of those who haven’t represented the Three Lions for a while.

England resume their qualifying campaign by playing host to minnows Malta, and they can be backed at 1.20 (1/5) for a half-time/full-time win.

England squad:

Goalkeepers: Fraser Forster (Southampton), Joe Hart (Torino, on loan from Manchester City), Tom Heaton (Burnley);

Defenders: Ryan Bertrand (Southampton), Gary Cahill (Chelsea), Phil Jagielka (Everton), Glen Johnson (Stoke), Danny Rose (Tottenham), Chris Smalling (Manchester United), John Stones (Manchester City), Kyle Walker (Tottenham);
