Leonardo UlloaPremier League newcomers Leicester City have broken a transfer record to complete an £8 million deal for Brighton striker Leonardo Ulloa.

The 27-year-old could end up costing the Foxes additional £2 million depending on various performance related bonuses.

Brighton did not want to stand in the player’s way of moving to English Premier League, but they still managed to earn a substantial amount of money in the process.

“Initially we did not want Leo to go, but once he made it clear to us he wanted to join Leicester and play in the Premier League, it was then a case of ensuring we received our valuation,” Seagulls chairman Tony Bloom said.

The Foxes have been very busy in the summer transfer window, having already recruited Matt Upson, Marc Albrighton and Louis Rowley.

Nevertheless, it appears they will need more big name signings if they are to survive the next Premiership campaign, with Leicester currently 1.36 (4/11) to stay up.
