Leicester City are reportedly keen to tie down Youri Tielemans to a new contract at the King Power Stadium.

According to Fabrizio Romano, the Foxes will look to extend the Belgian’s current deal that expires in the summer of 2023 sooner rather than later in an attempt to stave off interest from some of Europe’s biggest clubs.

The 23-year-old has been in stunning form this season as the Foxes attempt to secure a UEFA Champions Place under Brendan Rodgers.

The club’s record signing having arrived initially on-loan from Ligue 1 outfit AS Monaco, he has played in all but two of the club’s matches in all competitions this season.

In that time, he has scored six goals and provided three assists. Throughout his Foxes career thus far, Tielemans has played 87 games and netted 14 goals.

Should he pen a new contract at the King Power Stadium, then it would hugely indicate the Foxes’ ambition in breaking into the Premier League top four for the foreseeable future.

Despite his excellent form during the 2020/21 season, Tielemans may be unlikely to start as Leicester face Brighton and Hove Albion in the Fifth Round of the FA Cup on Wednesday evening at home.

Regardless of the team news, the East-Midlanders are still the most fancied to win and can be backed at a price of 20/23 with Betfair.
