Leeds United forward Rodrigo is set to miss the next few weeks of the Premier League season having returned a positive test for COVID-19.

The Spanish forward was already self-isolating having coming into contact with an individual who had previously tested positive, missing the 4-1 defeat at the hands of Leicester City at Elland Road on Monday evening. Now, he too has tested positive for the virus, releasing confirmation on Instagram.

“Unfortunately I have tested positive for Covid-19, after being in contact with a family member who had been infected without us knowing,” Rodrigo wrote.

“As per the protocol, I will be self isolating and will miss the Crystal Palace game.

“Both my family and I feel great. We are lucky enough to feel healthy and we are keeping a positive attitude.”

Signed from Valencia in the summer for a club-record fee, the 29-year-old has so far made seven appearances for the Whites in all competitions, finding the net once in a 1-1 draw with Manchester City.

Leeds will hope to get back to winning ways in the Spaniard’s absence, coming up against Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park at the weekend. Marcelo Bielsa’s men sit at a price 7/5 with William Hill to win the match.
