Jack WilshereArsenal midfielder Jack Wilshere admits that his latest injury has been difficult to deal with having come at a very bad time.

The England hotshot underwent a surgery on his leg last month and is unlikely to return before the New Year.

The current situation is not exactly new for the 23-year-old, but he reveals it was by no means easy to accept the reality.

“I think this one was mentally the toughest to take,” Wilshere told Sky Sports. “Last season I started the season well, got injured and missed most of the season, came back towards the end, got back in the England team, had a good game with England and then I only took two weeks off in the summer because I wanted to go back early and get fit, which I did.

“Pre-season I didn’t have any muscle injuries or anything like that, it was just a freak incident in training.

“It is tough but I’ve got good people around me, family and friends and they really help.”

It would appear as though Wilshere was not sorely missed by Arsenal this season, with the Gunners climbing to the Premier League summit thanks to a four-match winning run.

Arsene Wenger’s charges look set to mount a serious title challenge and they are 2.88 (17/9) to end a 12-year wait for the Premiership trophy.
