Sunday’s Premier League action kicks off at the John Smith’s Stadium where high-flying Huddersfield Town take on a Newcastle United side who began the weekend in the bottom three.

The Terriers could have hardly asked for a better start to life in the Premier League having thumped Crystal Palace by three goals to nil at Selhurst Park last weekend.

They go into this game as favourites and should they win will become only the third newly promoted side to win their first two Premier League games following Hull City last season and Bolton Wanderers back in the 2001/02 campaign.

Manager David Wagner is without Nakhi Wells, Jonathan Hogg, Martin Craine and Jon Gorenc Stankovic for the game though captain Tommy Smith is available despite being substituted after less than an hour last time out.

Steve Mounie, who is looking to become the first player to score in his first two Premier League appearances for a promoted side since Michael Ricketts did for Bolton sixteen years ago is favourite to open the scoring at 6.0 (5/1) with most firms.

The home win is priced at 2.5 (6/4) with several bookmakers with the visitors as highly priced as the 3.25 (9/4) on offer from Betfair while draw can be backed at the same price elsewhere.

Rafael Benitez’s side fell to a 2-0 defeat to Tottenham Hotspur last weekend with Jonjo Shelvey grabbing the headlines for all the wrong reasons after being sent-off for violent conduct.

Despite winning the division, Newcastle lost their opening two Championship fixtures last season with the second of those defeats coming at home to Huddersfield.

Joselu could make his debut after signing from Stoke City though Florian Lejeune and Paul Dummet join fellow defender DeAndre Yedlin on the sidelines after being forced off against Spurs.

Dwight Gayle is 8.0 (7/1) to get the first goal of the game with Sky Bet with Daryl Murphy a 13.0 (12/1) chance with Betfred.

Both of last season’s meetings between the sides saw over 2.5 goals and you can back that outcome this time around at a price of 2.25 (5/4) with Unibet.
