Liverpool have completed the signing of striker Fabio Borini from Roma, the Merseyside club announced on their official website.

The deal, thought to be worth around €14 million, will see the Italian forward work with boss Brendan Rodgers for the third time in his career after they worked together at Chelsea and Swansea.

“I’ve got the trust of the manager. I’m proud to be here,” said Borini to Liverpool’s official website.

“Liverpool is a top club which has won a lot of trophies in the past – and will do so in the future we hope as well.”

The talented striker began his career at Bologna, but he was snatched by Chelsea in the summer of 2007.

The player never quite managed to prove his worth at Stamford Bridge, but the successful loan spell at Swansea earned him a transfer to Parma and subsequently to Roma.

Borini scored 9 goals in 24 Serie A games for the Giallorossi and was one of team’s star performers last season.

The Italian’s arrival will be a big boost for the Reds, who are looking to improve on last season, and Liverpool are now 3.25 (9/4) with Stan James to achieve a top 4 finish.
