Arsenal-evertonStruggling Everton are sinking further down the Premier League standings and they head into the high-profile clash against Arsenal hoping to end a five-match winless run.

The Gunners, on the other hand, could go top of the league with a win at Merseyside, and that will serve as an extra motivation to try and record the fourth successive triumph.

Nobody can quite pinpoint the exact ingredient that has been missing all these years at Goodison Park, as David Moyes, Roberto Martinez and Ronald Koeman have all failed to bring success to the club.

Some top European footballers have been in the squad during that period and while it is still too early into Koeman’s reign, the first signs have not exactly been positive.

Following a promising start, the Toffees are now going through a very rough patch and the 3-2 defeat to Watford appears to have effectively ended their top 4 hopes.

It looks as though Everton will not be challenging or Europa League positions either, although there is still plenty of time to save the current season.

After they were left out of the starting line-up at Vicarage Road, Phil Jagielka and Ross Barkley should be recalled, while Aaron Lennon could be drafted in as well.

However, the likes of Yannick Bolasie, Muhamed Besic and Matthew Pennington are all unavailable for selection through injury.

Probable starting line-up (4-2-3-1): Stekelenburg – Coleman, Williams, Jagielka, Baines – Gueye, Barry – Lennon, Barkley, Mirallas – Lukaku.

Unlike their next opponents, Arsenal are enjoying one of the most successful seasons in recent years, and they are showing no signs of slowing down.

Since the opening defeat to Liverpool, the Gunners only lost one EFL Cup fixture, while largely impressing in other competitions, and they go into the Everton clash brimming with confidence.

Arsenal have now won last three Premier League fixtures to climb to second in the standings and they now hope to push leaders Chelsea all the way.

Having won last three games while conceding at least one goal, bear in mind that Arsenal to win and both teams to score pays 3.50 (5/2).

Summer recruit Shkodran Mustafi will miss around three weeks of action through a hamstring injury, with Gabriel Paulista set to deputise.

Hector Bellerin returned into action against Stoke City, but Per Mertesacker, Santi Cazorla and Danny Welbeck remain in the infirmary.

Probable starting line-up (4-2-3-1): Cech – Bellerin, Gabriel, Koscielny, Monreal – Ramsey, Elneny – Walcott, Ozil, Iwobi – Sanchez.
