Everton are edging close to making their first signing of the summer transfer window, with James Rodriguez on the verge of joining the Merseyside outfit.
According to Sky Sports, the Colombian midfielder could potentially join the Toffees as soon as Wednesday. His medical is also reportedly set to take place this week, with Real Madrid apparently keen to get him off their books.
Current Los Blancos Head Coach Zinedine Zidane has deemed Rodriguez surplus to requirements, having only made 14 appearances for the club in the past three seasons. The 29-year-old spent the 2017/18 and 2018/19 seasons on-loan at Bayern Munich and looks increasingly likely to depart the club this summer.
Since joining Real Madrid from AS Monaco in 2013, Rodrgiez has made 125 appearances for the club, scoring 37 goals and assisting a further 42.
Whilst the Toffees are edging close to signing Rodriguez, Carlo Ancelotti is also looking to add yet further players to his ranks at Goodison. The club have reportedly agreed a fee for Napoli midfielder Allan, whilst Watford’s Abdoulaye Doucoure is also an option.
Everton kick off their Premier League season against Tottenham Hotspur next weekend. The Toffees sit at 10/3 with William Hill to win their season opener.
