ConteItaly manager Antonio Conte is close to being confirmed as new Chelsea boss after nearing an agreement with the London club’s hierarchy, the Guardian reports.

Former Juventus coach could be named the next Chelsea manager within the next ten days after promising signs during the talks between the Italy boss and Chelsea representatives.

Antonio Conte has been selected as primary target ahead of Massimiliano Allegri, Siego Simeone, Jorge Sampaoli and Mauricio Pochettino and is sitting as a firm favourite to land the job in the coming days.

Chelsea are likely to announce the deal with the 46-year-old after the Paris Saint-Germain return leg in the UEFA Champions League last 16. Blues want to make sure everything is settled before the end of the season, which would give them a good starting point for the summer transfer window.

Guus Hiddink will remain at the helm until the end of the season when Antonio Conte is expected to take over, once his contract with Italy ends after the 2016 European Championship finals in France.

Blues owner Roman Abramovich is believed to have offered Conte a two-year contract worth £16 million and Antonio Conte has reportedly already agreed to a deal in principle, with details to be assessed further in coming weeks.

The two sides have reportedly met on Thursday and the meeting was described as ‘very positive’.

Antonio Conte is keen to return to club management and is relishing the chance to test his skills and knowledge in the Premier League having previously worked only in Italy.

He managed Arezzo, Bari, Atalanta, Siena and Juventus before taking over the Italy national team in 2014.

Antonio Conte led Juventus to three consecutive Serie A titles and his dedicated approach to management make him one of the most sought-after tacticians of the generation.

In the meantime, Chelsea are getting back to Premier League action and are traveling to Southampton for the weekend as they look to extend their positive run in the league.

Blues are standing at 2.75 (7/4) @BetVictor to record a win at St Mary’s on Saturday.
