Chelsea are reportedly set to make a move for Barcelona No. 1 Marc-Andre Ter Stegen as a replacement for under-fire goalkeeper Kepa.

According to the Daily Express, current Blues boss Frank Lampard has lost patience with his goalkeeper following a season where he has underwhelmed.

As a result, the former Athletic Club man has been dropped to the bench in recent weeks with Chelsea now drawing up a shortlist of potential replacements – Ter Stegen amongst them.

A German international, he has represented Barcelona since arriving at the Camp Nou in 2014 from Bundesliga outfit Borussia Monchengladbach. The 27-year-old has made 224 appearances in that time and managed to keep 94 clean sheets in all competitions.

In that time, he has won four La Liga titles as well as a solitary UEFA Champions League title.

It would be highly unlikely that Barcelona would allow a key player of Ter Stegen’s stature to depart the club. He still has two years left to run on his current contract, with any potential move surely set to cost considerably more than the world record fee that Chelsea paid for the under-fire Kepa.

Barcelona are not back in action until next Saturday as they face Mallorca in La Liga and are at odds of 4/11 with Betfair to win the match.
