Despite having only signed Thiago Silva in the summer, Chelsea are reportedly considering the defender’s stay at the club already.

The Brazilian international initially penned a one-year-deal at Stamford Bridge, joining from former club Paris Saint Germain on a free transfer.

However, he has impressed thus far in West London, turning in a series of impressive displays with Frank Lampard’s men having established themselves as genuine contenders for the Premier League crown this term.

According to Sky Sports, there is an option in Silva’s current contract for the Blues to extend that deal for a further year should he impress.

Whilst negotiations are not expected to get underway until at least the New Year, Lampard is extremely keen for the central defender to remain in West London.

Following a horror debut, a game in which Chelsea drew 3-3 with newly-promoted West Bromwich Albion, Silva has gone on to make a further eight appearances for the Blues, captaining the club on three occasions. He even managed to open his club account, scoring in the 4-1 thumping of Sheffield United.

The Brazilian currently sits at odds of 50/1 with William Hill to net the opening goal of the game against Tottenham Hotspur at the weekend.
