Premier League trio Chelsea, Arsenal and Manchester United have reportedly opened talks with Barcelona over the potential signing of defender Samuel Umtiti.

According to Diario Sport, the three English clubs are interested in recruiting the French centre-back as they all aim to strengthen the left side of their respective defences.

The report explains further that talks have already got underway with the Catalan giants, with a fee for Umtiti thought to be less than €50m due to recent economic damage caused by the coronavirus pandemic.

The Frenchman has been at the Camp Nou since a €25m move from French outfit Lyon in 2016. He was initially first choice with the club but due to a loss in form and numerous injury problems, he has fallen down the pecking order. Umtiti had only managed to make nine starts in La Liga during the 2019/20 season ahead of the suspension of football.

His contract with Barcelona is set to run until the summer of 2023, with a buyout clause of €500m but due to his fitness problems and the need for the club to generate funds, it is thought that he would cost a lot less should Chelsea, Arsenal and Manchester United make a move.
