Spanish giants Barcelona reportedly made a move for Arsenal forward Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang before he signed a new contract with the Gunners.

The Gabonese forward would originally have been out of contract next summer but instead elected to sign a new three year deal until 2023 to stay at the Emirates, becoming the club’s highest paid player.

Prior to him penning that new contract, Barcelona apparently made a move to bring him to the Camp Nou this summer according to Sky Sports, whilst Inter Milan were also interested in his services.

Instead, the Spanish giants have chosen to make a move for former Manchester United forward Memphis Depay from Lyon who is set to sign for the Catalans.

Aubameyang, signed from Borussia Dortmund in 2018, has been lethal in front of goal since he arrived in North London. He has made 111 appearances for the club, scoring 72 goals, earning the Premier League Golden Boot during the 2018/19 season.

He has also begun the current campaign in positive fashion having netted in the opening Premier League game against Fulham at the weekend as Arsenal ran out comprehensive 3-0 victors. The striker sits at a price of 23/10 with William Hill to net the opening goal against West Ham United this weekend.
