Jose Mourinho has said that wideman Gareth Bale is in ‘pretty good condition’ ahead of his second debut for the club at the weekend.

The Welsh winger, who rejoined the North London club on-loan from Real Madrid during the transfer window, has been building up his fitness ahead of his return to action.

Whilst Mourinho remained tight-lipped on whether Bale will feature against West Ham United this weekend, he did reveal that the 31-year-old is edging close to his best shape.

Talking in his press conference ahead of the match, he said: “Of course he wants to play. He wanted to play since the day he arrived, but it was not possible.

“I am not going to tell you if he is going to play, what I can tell you is that he is working very well, he is working in the way he was not able to do for a long time.

“The last week, especially Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, the planning of the sessions had a big focus on him and he is in pretty good condition.”

Whilst it is unclear whether Bale will feature in the match at the London Stadium, he is already amongst the favourites to net the opening goal at odds of 4/1 with William Hill.
