The traditional curtain raiser in England will see Premier League champions Chelsea and FA Cup winner Arsenal battle for the Community Shield trophy at Wembley.

The Gunners hope to make amends for yet another disappointing season and the first after quite a while when they finished outside of the top 4.

Arsenal did beat Chelsea to the FA Cup trophy, their third in last four years, but that was little comfort for the Premiership failure.

The fans are demanding marquee signings from Arsene Wenger, and the Gunners have so far added Alexandre Lacazette and Sead Kolainac to their ranks.

Meanwhile, the future of key men Alexis Sanchez and Mesut Ozil remains in doubt, while pre-season performances leave a lot to be desired.

Friendly defeats to Chelsea (0-3) and Sevilla (1-2) have raised quite a few questions and it would appear as though the Gunners are some way short off desired form.

Arsenal can be backed at 2.67 (6/4) to lift the Community Shield trophy, although we have to be fair and say we don’t see value in those odds.

Alexis Sanchez is unlikely to be risked as he only recently resumed training, while also being out through a bout of flu.

Mesut Ozil and Aaron Ramsey should start after recovering from ankle and muscle problems respectively, but Francis Coquelin is sidelined.

Probable starting line-up (3-4-2-1): Cech – Holding, Mertesacker, Koscielny – Bellerin, Ramsey, Xhaka, Kolasinac – Welbeck, Ozil – Lacazette.

There has been plenty of turmoil at Stamford Bridge this summer in spite of last year’s success and reports suggest manager Antonio Conte is not quite happy with the club’s transfer dealings.

The Blues have so far splashed the cash on Alvaro Morata, Tiemoue Bakayoko and Antonio Rudiger, while Nemanja Matic, Nathaniel Chalobah and Kurt Zouma all left.

Star striker Diego Costa is not part of the squad as he will be sold this summer, while Michy Batshuayi has staked a claim for a starting berth with some impressive performances.

As far as pre-season goes, Chelsea didn’t do too well after said 3-0 triumph over Arsenal, suffering back to back defeats to Bayern Munich and Inter Milan.

Winger Pedro faces a fitness test as he has yet to recover from facial injuries sustained in the Arsenal game, while new signing Tiemoue Bakayoko is unlikely to start due to knee problems.

Eden Hazard is unlikely to be risked as he has yet to fully recover from a broken ankle, meaning that Willian and Morata should start on the flanks.

Probable starting line-up (3-4-3): Courtois – Azpilicueta, Luiz, Cahill – Moses, Kante, Fabregas, Alonso – Willian, Batshuayi, Morata.
