Shkodran-MustafiPremier League giants Arsenal are weighing up summer bid for Valencia stopper Shkodran Mustafi, according to the latest reports.

The Gunners face serious problems at the back after Per Mertesacker was ruled out for five months, especially since neither Laurent Koscielny nor Gabriel Paulista are available for selection at the moment.

As a result, Arsene Wenger is determined to recruit an experienced central defender in the coming days and it appears he has set his sights on Shkodran Mustafi.

The Gunners are reportedly prepared to offer £20 million for the Germany international, but it will probably take a lot more to persuade los Che to sell.

Shkodran Mustafi has become one of Europe’s most sought-after defenders and he has so far been linked with a host of high-profile clubs.

Unless Arsenal can quickly recruit a quality central defender, there is a good chance that Rob Holding and Calum Chambers will form the defensive pairing in the opening game against Liverpool, where the Gunners are 2.25 (5/4) to emerge victorious.
